Basic Roulette Rules

Because Roulette is such simple game all, the rules only roulette to the dos and don’ts. Unlike games such as poker or blackjack where the actions of other players form part of the basic guidelines. If we are being pedantic there is just one rule that applies to all the variants of roulette, that is you bet first before the wheel spins. French Roulette is the only game with two additional rules. The other basic rules of roulette really the different bets in the game.

American Roulette Rules are less lenient. The game has the highest house edge of all roulette games

French Roulette Rules

French Roulette has the best house edge for players because of two unique rules “La partage” and “En Prison”. The la partage rule lets players get half their money bet if the ball lands on zero after a number bet. That is how French Roulette has the lowest house edge and the best odds. French roulette has the added flair of having the bets on the table written in French as well.

European Roulette Rules

European Roulette has a single zero like French Roulette but does not have the same rules like La Partage. The bets in European Roulette are similar to mall the other roulette versions however they do not have the unique French Rules. European roulette is the happy medium between the American and French variant, no double zero like the American wheel and no special rules like the French version.

Rules of Roulette Wheel

Yes, we said that there is only one rule that applies to all the games of roulette, however there are rules that guide the game even before the game starts. Rules about what the wheels and table look like in the different variations of the game.

French and European Roulette Wheel

The wheel in European and French Roulette is the standard wheel the world over with numbers 1 to 37 in alternating red and black wheel pockets and a single green zero pocket.

American Roulette Wheel

The American roulette wheel in the true style of American culture of always outdoing everyone else has two zero pockets. One of the zero pockets has a double zero. It too has alternating red, black and green pockets, black for numbers 1 to 37 and green for both the zero pockets.

Roulette Rules Payouts

Rules for payouts in Roulette are tied to the different bets. That is why even though technically there iOS just one rule that you bet first before the wheel spins, to understand the payout rules you must know the bets. There are bets that are categorized as even money bets which already gives you a clear picture of what your payouts will be.

Of course, whether you play at Vegas or at an online casino the payouts will vary slightly from casino to casino. Nevertheless, these are the average bets and payouts you can expect
