Does Maine Have Any Casinos?

Maine Gambling Laws

Maine’s gambling laws make it very clear what is allowed and what is not. Although the state does not allow anyone under 21 to play casino games or even enter a casino, the state allows residents over the age of 16 be present, under supervision but not to participate in Bingo, Beano and keno games for charity or at Native American reservations.

The legal gambling age is 21, the only people younger than 21 allowed to be in the casino are 18-20-year-old who work in the casinos.

State lawmakers do not restrict the hours of casino operations however the casinos are expected to provide security and 24-hour CCTV surveillance at these casinos.

In the interests of responsible gambling there maybe no ATM or cash advance machines within the casino gaming area.

Bingo Halls in Maine

Although the Native American tribes in main do not have the same gambling rights as other states, they are allowed by law to host high stakes bingo games. They can have unlimited prizes for the bingo, beano or keno games they host. Nevertheless, there are still rules and guidelines as to how these games are conducted.

Sports betting is currently not legal in Maine. Earlier in February 2020 the Governor ha vetoed the legalization of sports betting which was overturned by two-thirds of the Senate.  The bill went to the house for a vote where it was unsuccessful. The only sports betting available in Maine currently is Fantasy Sports Betting.
