Las Vegas is Back! Casinos and Hotels Re-Open

Home » Las Vegas is Back! Casinos and Hotels Re-Open

Casinos in Las Vegas reopened just over a week ago and the parties have already begun. Yesterday many hotel casinos had pool parties to relaunch after the Covid-19 induced hiatus. Many revellers could be seen in swimwear and masks, although one wonders if the mask would serve any purpose in the water? The Strip is alive and bustling since its closure mid-March. Many thought they may have to wait till the end of the year before seeing the casino floors again. As much as the strip was alive with activity the mood was quite sombre. It is hard to be bubbly and loud while surfaces are continuously cleaned and scrubbed around you. And the smell of disinfectant doesn’t do much to lift one’s mood. But which of the brave casinos are open now?  Let’s find out!

Las Vegas Casinos and Hotels Reopen

Casinos Currently Open in Las Vegas Right Now

There are quite a few casinos currently open but not all have opened up the pool area for obvious reasons. Included on the list of casinos who have decided to take a leap of faith and reopen are:

  • MGM Bellagio
  • MGM Grand
  • Signature
  • New York-New York
  • Caesars Palace
  • Flamingo
  • Harrah’s

*Flamingos is the only casino with its pool area open currently. MGM has said that they will be holding off on the opening their casino pools and hotel areas.

They have and continue to take measures from what we have seen. The staff was frequently cleaning around the pool, the lounge chairs around the pool and every other surface. For now, it seems sustainable, the cleaning efforts that is, since there are only a few people at the casino pool area. However, as people begin to feel more relaxed and see others at the casino hotels those numbers may rise. There were some social distancing measures albeit because the people were few. Most could be seen sun bathing leisurely on the pool chairs.

There are concerns from experts in the medical field especially with the pool parties. Even though there were no drunken revelry, people in the pool do not seem to distance. And if you have been to a Sin City casino hotel pool party, you know personal space is a myth. However, we do hope everything works out well for the casinos and the patrons. The revenue lost in this pandemic caused damage not just to the casino operators but to the city as a whole. Jobs were lost and it will take a long time to recover. But this re-opening will surely give the casino employees renewed hope.

If, however you are not planning on living on the edge and going to a casino in Vegas, we have a list of online casinos that bring the Las Vegas experience to you! They offer all the slots and casino games you would find in Sin City.
