How to Play Two-Card Poker

Playing Two Card Poker is straightforward.  The game uses a regular 52-card deck. The jokers or wildcards are removed from the deck. You will be required to make your Bet before any cards are dealt.

This version of the game is quite similar to Three-Card-Poker as you can make bonus wagers. But before that, you need to know the basics of the online poker game.

Two-Card Poker Winning Hands

A fundamental element of any poker hand is understanding the hand rankings.

  • Two Card Flush – Highest hand has Ace-Queen, and the lowest hand has 4-2
  • Two Card Straight Flush – Highest hand has Ace-King, and the lowest hand has 3 or 2
  • High card – The Highest hand has Ace-King is highest, and the lowest hand will have 3 or 2
  • Pair – the highest hand has a pair of Aces and the lowest has a pair of 2’s
  • High card without the flush – note that straights are not recognized

In a case where both you and the dealer hold two flush cards, the hand with the highest single card will win. If you both have the same high card, the second card held will determine the winner. A tie is a push.

Suppose you are dealt a hand that has an Ace of hearts, 8 of spades, 4 of clubs, 2 of clubs. The two cards you would play are the 4 and 2 of clubs. This is because they are from the same suit. The dealer will then have their top two cards similarly.

  1. To start the game, you will have to make an Ante wager.
  2. You can decide whether or not to make an additional 2 Card Bonus or 4 Card Bonus bet.
  3. Both you and the dealer will get four card which must be used to make the best two-card hand using the rankings above.
  4. You will get the opportunity to hold your hand where you will lose your ante.
  5. If made a four-card bonus, you will place two cards of your choice under the 4 Card Bonus as it is still eligible for a payout.
  6. Or you can call which is a bet that is the same amount as your ante. Here the players left in the game will abandon the cards they didn’t use for their ranking hand.
  7. To qualify to play, the dealer must hold a flush with high jack card. If the dealer does not hold a winning hand, the Bet ends as push, and the ante is paid in even money.
  8. The dealer pays the call and ante bet even money if your hand is better than the dealer’s succeeding hand. If your hand is tie with the dealers, the call and ante bet will end in a push.

Odds and payouts

When you play any kind of casino game, knowing what the odds are can help you determine if the game is truly worth your time.

With two card poker if you hold a pair of 7’s or higher you will get paid out. This is based off your two-card poker hand.

Should you have a two pair or better based on yours and the dealer’s combined two-card hands, the four-card bonus will payout. However, straights do not apply.

You don’t have to worry about remembering the odd and paytable work as most casino will have the payouts for both extra bets on the table. It will include the minimum and maximum betting limits.
